t & Workmanship
-
Primary Material: Constructed from high-strength, corrosion-resistant galvanized steel wire or Galfan (zinc-aluminum alloy) steel wire. Special military-grade models may utilize stainless steel wire or wire with a specific plastic coating (“anti-corrosion”) to ensure an extended service life in harsh field environments.
-
Welding Process: Different from traditional woven mesh, we utilize resistance fusion welding technology. Every intersection is fused into one unit, offering extremely high shear strength. The mesh surface is smooth and firm, ensuring that even if a local break occurs, the overall structure will not unravel.
-
Box Design: Composed of mesh panels connected by spiral binders or specialized fasteners. The interior of the box is equipped with diaphragms (reinforcing ribs) as per design requirements to prevent the filling materials (stones/sandbags) from exerting excessive pressure and deforming the side walls.
-
Accessory Components: Typically includes edge wires, selvedge wires, and lacing wires to ensure the closure and stability of the overall structure.
Why Does the Military Prefer “Welded Gabion Baskets”?
1. Rapid Construction, Ready for Use Immediately
On the battlefield, time is life. Traditional concrete fortifications require formwork and a lengthy curing period. In contrast, welded gabion baskets are transported to the site in folded packaging. Once unpacked, they can be assembled on-site with simple tools (ngu, come-alongs, hog ring pliers). By filling them with locally available soil or crushed stone, a defensive structure is formed instantly.
2. Excellent Ballistic Resistance and Energy Absorption
-
“Flexible” Defense: When bullets or shell fragments hit a gabion filled with earth and stone, the filling (sand/gravel) disperses the kinetic energy evenly across the entire mesh structure, unlike concrete which undergoes brittle cracking and spalling.
-
Self-Healing Capability: Even if some mesh wires are severed by shrapnel, the wall does not collapse immediately due to the internal pressure of the stones and the interlocking nature of the overall structure, maintaining a degree of protective capability.
3. Corrosion-Free, Extended Lifecycle
Addressing the characteristics of long-term idle military facilities with minimal maintenance, the “anti-corrosion welded mesh” undergoes hot-dip galvanizing or Galfan anti-corrosion treatment. Its corrosion resistance is 5-10 times greater than standard welded mesh. Whether in humid coastal defense positions or wind-eroded border areas, the structure remains stable, embodying a true “install and forget” philosophy.
4. High Structural Stability, Strong Deformation Resistance
The rigidity of welded mesh is significantly higher than traditional woven mesh. This gives military gabion baskets excellent dimensional stability when subjected to heavy vehicle traffic (as temporary road foundations) or impacts from heavy equipment, making them less prone to “bulging” deformation.

Core Application Scenarios
🔰 Temporary Military Shelters and Trench Reinforcement
In field conditions, use mechanized units to quickly construct individual soldier shelters, machine gun positions, or observation posts. Fill with local soil to blend perfectly with the terrain for excellent concealment.
